Question : SQL DB running on VIsta; XP cannot share. Error: SQL Server does not exist or Access denied

First off, pardon me, I'm really don't know much about Vista or SQL Server, so bear with me.

I have a DB on a Vista running SQL Server 2005. I am trying to access this DB from my XP, but keep getting the error: SQL Server does not exist or Access denied.

I called the software mfr (whose DB I'm running) and they suggested since Vista has so many permissions issues, I should setup the DB on the XP machine instead. Long story, but have problems there too... Can anyone PLEASE help me? I'd be willing to even pay, I just need this fixed ASAP, as I am desperate to have this resolved.

Thanks so much!
Cindy

Answer : SQL DB running on VIsta; XP cannot share. Error: SQL Server does not exist or Access denied

sorry for my before post...

Change the startup account to LocalSystem in Configuration Mgr.

1. Open Control Panel and open Administrative Tools

2. Now open Services and right click on SQL Server service and select properties.

3. Go to 'Log On' tab and select 'Local System Account' under 'Log on as' and click OK.

Now restart the service and try to login.

Please let me know if you face any issues...
