Question : Can someone recommend a good free training/emulation software for Cisco?

I would like to play around with some cisco equipment but the cost of the hardware is very high. Other than reading text books can someone recommend a good way to get more familar with Cisco products. Are there any good FREE emulation software to practice making settings on routers/switches/firewalls/VPN cisco hardware.
