Question : Open MS Office documents within relevant application when downloaded from intranet
The powers that be have decided that they would like MS Office downloaded from our intranet to open within the relevant application (Word, Excel and Powerpoint) rather than within the browser. We are currently using Office 2002/XP and IE6.
Any ideas on how I go about doing this? Once I know where the settings are I can look at rolling it out, but I don't know what controls it and even if it is possible. (I think its probably easy to prevent opening within the browser) I'm not certain if open-in-application is possible without asking users to save and open, although in theory it should be just the same as double clicking within Windows Explorer
