Answer : Kernel32.dll error in windows media player2

|
Having upgraded from 95 to 98, can't test further, but do recall on one system with Media Player problems as well as sound problems with Windows 95 ... we had to do the following, though I don't recall the exact order of things ...
1. Stay current with WindowsUpdate 2. Using WindowsUpdate, asked to show all installed components, including Media Player and then chose the uninstall option for Media Player to uninstall it and then reinstall it again using WindowsUpdate 3. Had to verify sound card and drivers, used DirectX to run diagnostics and upgrade drivers 4. Using control-panel, add/remove programs - Windows Setup - we had to uninstall and reinstall the Multimedia elements (reboot in between) and then was fine
