Question : Unstable Cursor

I am using Win 98 SE. My cursor has become unstable; for example, when printing from Word or FrameMaker, it quickly alternates between an hour glass and an arrow. When I am editing, the edit cursor (|) flashes on and off at a high rate, mayby 4 times when it would normally be be visible.

It seems that this started after I deleted a printer from the Printers Control Panel. I had two printer drivers for my HP LaserJet 4M. Printing is normal with the printer. Not sure that this was the event that started the cursor problem.

Good news, AlanBlum, happy to have helped and that this provided you with the solution.  Since you indicated that "The suggestion from Astaec solved the problem", I'll now post as an answer for you to grade and close this Q.

Since you had duplicate drivers loaded at one point; perhaps it would be beneficial as well to reboot to safe mode. Once in Windows in SAFE MODE, right click My Computer icon, choose properties and see if any duplicates/errors noted for any devices.  If so, remove all occurrences.
