Question : After Bootup mouse pointer moves but does not activate anything and houglass hangs on toolbar
Computer boots up normally. Mouse pointer or cursor moves but when I click on any application nothing happens. When cursor is moved to bottom tool bar, hourglass appears. After restart system usually functions normally. Restart may have to be applied more than once. I am worried this may portend to something of serious concern.

the reason why it shows an houglass on the taskbar and doesn't activate anything on the desktop is because your computer is still loading.. it has nothing at all to do with the mouse. You might want to bring up the task manager (ctrl-alt-del) and going to processes to see what is going on... if you want you can select explorer and end it and then go to file run and type in explorer.exe and see if that helps.. there probably is a driver or program that is stopping the load process.. you might want to go into msconfig and turn off all but microsoft services and then add one at a time until you find the offending program
