Question : using ACT! 6 and outlook together
|
|
Hi, I have a client that uses ACT! for Calendar contacts, notes and the like, but they dont like the e-mail interface, and would like to stay with Outlook 2003. but they want to have the contacts and e-mail addresses avalable in the ACT! databse when they are trying to send an e-mail message. they also would like e-mails sent from outlook to show up in the notes section of outlook, as if they sent them from the ACT! program.
Question, is there a conduit to go between ACT! and Outlook? is there something I missed in the ACT! e-mail setup program? any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer : using ACT! 6 and outlook together

SlickTech, There is no automatic conduit between ACT! and Outlook. There are, however, two add-on applications which do. ACT-Outlook Synchronizer from www.personalcrm.com and DoubleLook from www.companionlink.com. You will have to license every user you want to synchronize. To place emails in ACT! history without using the ACT! email interface, you must first add the ACT! database as a contact directory in Outlook. Once you've done this, an ICON will be added to your Outlook toolbar to assist in the effort. In Outlook, highlight the email, then select the ACT! Icon on the toolbar. This will launch a popup that will show the directory of names from the ACT! database(s) you have attached to Outlook. Select the contacts you want to use (you can have more than one) and select ok.
This will place the email in the history portion of the ACT! database. Note: In the email setup in ACT! you must select the type of entry you want: Topic only, entire email text in history, or an attachment to the database.
You didn't say which version of ACT! you were using. The newest versions of ACT! (7 and 8) have a much better email interface than previous versions (though not as elegant looking as Outlook 2003) but very functional.
Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help more. Take care!
