Question : USB ports stop working in Windows XP
Hello all.
I have upgraded to a new motherboard and now my USB devices stop working once windows boots up.
I have the USB keyboard and mouse and i can navigate around BIOS just great and while the system is booting i have full control of the mouse and keyboard. However, once windows is loaded then it appears that the device manager puts the brakes on the USB port.
because i dont have any ps2 ports, i cannot navigate to the device manager to reinstall the usb drivers or even update them.
Am i just better off wiping the hard drive and reinstalling windows hoping that the necessary drivers are installed? Or is there a way to install the drivers before windows starts up?
The motherboard is an Intel ND237 with a Intel 945 Express chipset
Thanks in advance for any help that you may be able to provide
Edit: THis is a Dell gx620 desktop computer.
Answer : USB ports stop working in Windows XP
I've just read this and if you've changed your motherboard, the best practice would be to do a clean install with appropriate drivers.
