Question : How do you stop Windows auto installing hardware?

Hi
I am trying to update the driver for a graphics card.  The driver is in the form of an exe file so I can't select to update the driver - when I run the exe it errors.   To get past this I uninstall the existing driver and restart the PC.  However, the PC auto detects the graphics card and reinstalls the previous driver as soon as Widows boots.

Is there a way to stop it installing each time?

Cheers

How about finding the driver folder for your current graphics card in teh i836 folder or whatever location it is held in, renaming it old, uninstalling the driver and then rebooting, it wont be able to find the old driver then to reinstall it
