Question : Can Illustrator, Fireworks, or other Adobe app draw box diagrams with anchored connectors.
I routinely need to create entity-relationship diagrams or flow charts. It nothing elaborate - just outline shape containing text and connecting lines. The lines need to have various endpoint symbols such as arrows for flow charts and the lines need to anchor to the symbols so they stay connected as the boxes are moved.
I have used SmartDraw and EDraw which perform well but I also use the Adobe Web Suite (CS3 - Premium) for other work and would prefer to standardize with the one suite if possible. So far I have not found the capability for anchored lines in the Adobe products. Am I missing something or is charting with live connector lines a specialized subset of the vector graphics? i.e., do I need to continue with a separate product for this?
Note: charting efficiency (speed) is very important so my question might be rephrased as "Can Adobe perform such charting in as few steps as the other products?"
Thanks.

I have used visio for this. You can create stuff like this in Adobe, but it isn't going to be the 'smart' stuff you are looking for. Ie, you will have to do it all manually.
