Question : My IIS always asking for username and password
|
|
Hi Expert,
I am running IIS6 on Windows server 2003. Somehow it always pup-up the message box asking for username and password when viewing any page. If I use the internet name (eg:www.mydomain.com), the message box will come up and it seems fine within the intranet ( if just use http://localhost or http://machinename. )
I have ticked the box of "Enable Anonymous User", and as defaulto to the IUSR. I also added IUSR to the group user of web folder. I still can't get it working.
Does anyone know the trick?

Usually this is a permissions problem either from IIS or from NTFS.
1. Check the folder permissions. The IUSR_machinename account has to have read access to the folder and files. 2. In the Internet Services Manager, under directory security, make sure anonymous access is enabled.
