Question : Symantec Ghost 14.0 - - Ghosting Problems
|
|
I'm new to Ghost 14.0 and I have the following questions. 1) I can't find an option in 14.0 to create a ghost boot disk to boot off of. I want to make a clone of my current hard drive to a new larger one that is blank. 2) Does 14.0 support raid. My workstation uses a raid controller. 3) Is the installation cd bootable?

No. You must install and activate the software first. With Windows XP and Vista, Ghost using one of the new technologies called Volume Shadow Copy, will do on-line (hot) imaging.
VSS is part of a technology used for making backups and images for databases and pc's that are never booted--such as online bank or credit card database. They don't shut down Visa (for example) network, boot off a CD, and then take a backup.
On-line imaging is very safe. On-line vs. off-line imaging and precautions etc has been hotly debated for several years now. Search Google for more info.
What is your concern about needing to boot off the install CD?
