Question : Windows 2003 profile directory location

We currently store our roaming profiles under the users home directory so as follows:

\\server\home\test bod\*.* = users home dir
\\server\home\test bod\profile\*.* = users profile

I'm used to working with the profile directory being on a seperate file share so as to be hidden from users rather than having it exposed (and potentially available for modification) to staff.

Can anyone confirm best practice here?  Should I take the time to relocate the user profile directories or leave them as they are?

Thanks in advance....

Answer : Windows 2003 profile directory location

I would also agree that having the profile folder stored elsewhere would be better practice than having it visible to the user. The risk of course being that they delete or make changes to it which cause them problems.

One other option as an alternative to moving the profile is to mark the folder as hidden/system. Granted some users would still be able to see it but it would be easier to change (even if only in the interim) and quicker than moving the location (still the ideal solution)
