Question : Trying to create Ghost image, replace and restore failing HD

The HD on my laptop is failing.  I know this because of a scan I ran on the HD using the manufacturers diagnostic tool, which indicated unrecoverable read errors.  I installed Norton Ghost 14.0 with the intention of creating as much of an image of the HD as possible before replacing the drive.  After installing Ghost, the system won't boot--Operation System not found.  So, I reboot, enter Setup and find in the system devices list, next to Hard Drives, it says "none."  I then used the Ghost disc to try to restore the system, but Ghost is indicating there is no restore point available to use to restore.

My expectation going into this little project was that I was going to be able to install Ghost, create and image that I would burn onto a CD, replace the HD, then use the CD to restore the system--OS, registry, file system, etc. to (as close as possible, given the failing disc's bad sectors) the new HD.

I can't access the Ghost Help pages because I can't boot the PC.  I can't find Ghost help on the Web.  I guess at this point I need a step-by-step.

OS: XP SP2
I have a Windows XP SP2 CD, but when I tried to use that to boot the system, I only got options for setting up Windows or using Recovery Consloe, whose command line interface I don't know how to use.
Thanks!

Answer : Trying to create Ghost image, replace and restore failing HD

Thank you for your feedback, burrcm,
I managed to get the OS back.  I don't know that it was anything I did, or if it was just random, but F10/F8 on startup seemed to bring it back.  I was able to get an image, replace the disc and apply the image to the new disc successfully.
