Question : Problems loading Acer drivers

I am having problems loading the ethernet & modem drivers for an Acer Travelmate 2480 laptop.  In the past, other manufacturers give you the choice of where to save the driver (desktop, c-drive, etc), but the Acer drivers start to unzip automatically.  I had no problem finding the correct drivers, just loading them.  Any assistance would be appreciated!  Thanks!

Answer : Problems loading Acer drivers

They probably are being extracted to a temp folder. Try looking for it in Documents and Settings folder.

Sometimes the exe file that installs or extracts the drivers have command line switches to change the extraction path. Goto run, then type cmd. Try running the exe with a /? after the name and see if it list any options.

Also, here is the around the world to get next door way:

Click Start, run, then type: msinfo32

In the System Information window, click Components, Problem Devices.

Get the VEN # and the DEV # for the NIC

Goto http://www.pcidatabase.com/index.php and do a search for the VEN and DEV numbers.
This well tell you the manufacturer. Then goto the manufacturer's website and find the driver.

Then you can download DriverMax http://www.innovative-sol.com/drivermax/
It will search for drivers for you if you need other drivers for the system. It's a great utility.
