Question : Cannot Create Mapped drive to shared folder
|
|
I have a shared folder on a SMB2003 server and I would like to map a drive to that folder from my home computer but each time I provide my credentials it comes back asking for my credentials again. I have tried using my user name and password as well as the administrator name and password and nothing works. I can RDP into the server using the same user names and passwords and it works fine but when I try to map nothing. I have checked that printer and file sharing is enabled on the NICs and checked permissions on the folder and everything is fine. I am connecting to the network through a Sonicwall Global VPN clinet to a SonicWall 180 and the VPN creates fine and I can browse and ping all the machines on the network but cannot map a drive to a shared folder.

Is this how you re-added the machine: To rerun the connectcomputer follow these steps:
Client: 1. Log with local admin account. Backup your profiles first! 2. Join a Workgroup (Unjoin from Domain) 3. Delete or rename the following directory C:\Program Files\Microsoft Windows Small Business Server\Clients if it exists (Thanks Jeff) 4. Delete this Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\smallbusinessserver (Thanks Jeff) 5. In network settings TCP/IP: Obtain IP automatically, obtain DNS Automatically + File and Print Sharing enabled 6. Reboot
On server Management Console: 1. Remove the client computer 2. Create a NEW UNIQUE computer Account in the server Management Console. Olaf
On workstation: In browser while logged on as local admin: type: http:///connectcomputer. Say yes to Active X and join using the newly created Computer account. The workstation will restart twice.
