Question : Sniffer prog needed
|
|
Hi all,
I'm after a sniffer prog for analysing what is going on between my webserver and client. Ideally it'll be able to listen in on a port of my machine and send eveything it hears on port 80 to the standard out.
Anybody have such a beast in their toolkit? Source would be nice but an executable would do.

Hi,
NT does come with a packet sniffer called "Network Monitor" it will allow you to capture network packets coming in/going out of your station. So if you run it on your Web server you will be able to see all incoming/out going packets. Unfortunately, this tools won't allow you to listen to packets destined to others station than your own. Microsoft does have a more advanced sniffer in the SMS package. No I don't have the source code for it, if it is what you are looking for. I don't know if the NT book that come with NT show you how to do it, but I think if you look under HELP and search for Network Monitor, you'll have most of the details you need in order to perform the job.
