Question : Rookie User: Unable to troubleshoot SQL server connection: :[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen<wbr />{connect()<wbr />.]SQL Server does not exist or access denied

Hello,

I've been fighting this for a couple of days:

I'm currently using a tutorial for a product named Magic Edeveloper (Also known as Unipaas 1.5)

At about 1/3 through the tutorial, I was instructed to connect to SQL server which I haven't been able to do. (Screenshot S4)

I have tried both SQL server and Windows authentication to no avail.

I am, however, able to connect via Studio express. (Screenshot S2)

Couple of questions:

1) When I went to Microsoft to search the knowledge base, I was informed that one of the conditions that could cause this is if MSSQL is not actually running. What is the definition of "running"?

2) For simplicity's sake, I set the password to : " 123 " for both SQL and Windows respectively. (I aslo set the login name to " SA" for Windows ) What I don't understand is that when I enable the "show password" feature on Studio Express, I see a much longer password. (Screenshot S1)

As a rookie, I'm overwhelmed by all the different things to investigate in trying to get this fixed so any help would be greatly appreciated.
