Question : Oracle iAS and Database 8i, want to upgrade the OS AIX 4.3 to AIX 5.3

We have Oracle RDBMS 8i (8.1.7.4) and iAS 1.0.2 running on AIX 4.3 We want to upgrade the OS to AIX 5.3, Our understanding is that AIX 4.3 and AIX 5.3 are not binary compatible. You need to recompile the programs written for AIX 4.3 to run them on AIX 5.3

We would like to hear from anybody having experience of similar upgrade on AIX platform.

Since AIX5.3 is a 64 bit system, you might have to apply some kind of patch on your Oracle 8i. Also probably all your programs probably need to be recompiled.
