Question : Does Office 2003 compress VBA code

I manage the templates / macros that we have in the company.  I was doing some minor amendments (literally changing a path or two in the macros) to some of these files and noticed that were being reduced from 500k to 200k (on average).  They are all variations on the additions.dot template and most of the code was written using the visual basic editor that came with word 97, I am currently using office 2003 Beta.  Has anyone else noticed this or is there possibly a bug in visual editor supplied with 2003.  I haven't noticed any problems with the reduced size templates, but would like to know if anyone else has noticed this reduction in file size.

Answer : Does Office 2003 compress VBA code

no what happens is that while developing the template is being stuffed with metadata, deletions and formatting or undo information that is not totally cleaned up

so the file grows, you could see this happening with excel 2K or XP too so it's not new or a bug. for demonstration only you could try to make a new template in excel 97 and put all your modules etc in there and see what happens to the filesize
