Question : How to create a root certificate for a Palm Treo 700P
|
|
Hello All,
I am trying to setup a treo 700p with versamail on an exchange 2003 sp2 server. I get a message saying I need to install a root certificate, but I am not sure how to do this.
I want to use the CA authority in our domain, I have searched but could not find any instructions on how to 1. create a certificate for a palm treo 700p 2. install the certificate on the palm treo.
Can anyone help??
Thanks,
Bill

Well, possibly. Here's what I'm thinking. The fact that you don't know about Client Certificates suggests to me that you are unlikely to have a PKI infrastructure in place that uses personal certificates. By the same token you might have ticked something that has led you to this place when you really don't want to be here.
The fact of the matter is that all you /really/ need on the device is the root certificate for the CA server. Once that's on there your device will trust the web server certificate on your Exchange box.
I'm not really convinced that you need personal certificates for the device owners and am a little worried about what you may have ticked.
So, just get the root certificate (as per previous instructions) onto the device and then we can see if you can sync up.
