Question : DVD drive not being recognised in wiindows Vista

Hi
I have been brought a dell laptop to fix running windows vista basic, the machine has a problem where the opitical drive is not being recognised, there is a yellow exclamation next to it in device manager.  I know in XP this problem was resolved by deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
does anybody know if this works in vista or is there another fix for this problem.

thanks

jag

Answer : DVD drive not being recognised in wiindows Vista

Here's a page where several people said the fix worked for them in Vista:
