Question : How do I open a DOS Window in Home XP
|
|
I made the mistake of installing Ezula which has a plug in named TOPtext that affects my IE6 browser causing smart links to appear in text documents from the web on my pc. It's something from Office XP that I don't want in my Home XP. I have removed Ezula in the conventional way.
An information site warned me that Ezula could reinstall if a file "ezstub.exe" is still in my Windows/System32 folder after I removed the application. When I go to that folder I note a strong warning of not to touch files in that folder. Sure enough "ezstub.exe" is in that folder.
My feeling is that I should only worry about the file "ezstub.exe" if the smart links appear again. This warning was in a site dated August, 2001 and may not even be a problem today as Microsoft received lots of flack about this intrusive program.
Question #1- Do you agree that I should leave "ezstub.exe" where it sits?
Question 2. How do you "Open a command prompt {aka DOS window]" with Home XP?
I still want to know the above for the future, as I feel as if I am this ignorant about DOS that I should stay away from making the following entry in the DOS window.
Line 1 "ezstub.exe -UnregServer" Press Enter Line 2 "del ezstub.exe" Press Enter

You won't need to do anything in DOS after you run SBSD. So, the sooner you get SBSD from LURKHERE and let it do the job it knows best for you, the sooner you'll be back to enjoying your ad-free PC!
Looking forward to your peace of mind, Ted, the Modem Mixer
