Question : Home network - Browser can not connect
|
|
Hello,
I have a home network using a D-link DIR 635 cpe. 1 MAC and 1 Vista Ultimate desktop, 1 Mac laptop and 1 Vista Home Prem laptop.
I did fresh install last on the Vista desktip, loaded all the drivers and everything was working perfectly. All computers could print, share drives and iTunes. Then I tried loading Panda Internet Security 2007. I keep geting error code; 0x80040707 and install terminates. I googled this error code and could not find a fix for Vista but found a fix for XP. Anyway, since I did that on my desktop, I am not able to connect to the internet with my browes, IE and Firefox. When I check in the Network and sharing center it says that my desktop has access to Local and Internet. Also have have a sidebar widget that shows the desktop MAC address, IP address and what looks like the Ethernet address.
I am at a loss. I have tried a winsocket repair tool but that did not work. I tried to see if I could uninstall the Panda software, which I suspect is the culprit to this problem but there is not to uninstall. However when I check the properties of the NIC it show that 'Panda NDIS IM Filter is installed, which I am assuming is some kind of firewall module or something. I also tried intalling a TCP Optomizier form speedguide.net but I did restore the registry after I found out that this tool does not work on Vista.
So, if anyone has any advice I am all ears to a solution.
Thank you, heatmiser

Two more things to try. Try rebuilding your TCP/IP stack, by typing the following at a command prompt:
netsh winsock reset
And if that doesn't work, try booting into safe mode and uninstalling the panda software... maybe even going to network properties and manually uninstalling it there.
I'm familiar with this problem, but can't find my documentation on how I fixed it in the past.
Let me know if any of these work.
