Question : Finding out a program using a certain file.

I am trying to install the XP SP2 and half way through installation I get a message saying that it cant continue because another program is using the file 'bridge.sys' After closing all programs open and in the taskbar i still get the error, so I'm wondering if anyone knows a program that finds out which programs are using certain files, or if anyone has any ideas on which programs could be using 'bridge.sys.'
Thanks!

Answer : Finding out a program using a certain file.

hi snip69  lets get you back to surfing the net ASAP,Why are you upgrading? It is common knowledge now that it is the preferred not to update until Microsoft fixes it up a whole lot better, If your xp works fines dont fix it.

Alas nope your only other choice is to install a modem on your machine and setup an internet account of your own. You dont really need an internet account to install sp2. disable all your lan connections unplug etc  once all your lan connections and ( shared folders unshare everything) remove all lan cables.
delete all your network bridges or remove them you'll just have to re-enable them later.
The other computers your connected are they using sp2 as well? Maybe you should check what programs stop working after installing sp2.
These are well worth reading..
