Question : Keyword ranking, digital point and google API key
|
|
Greetings.
I am trying to do some keyword tracking and it appears as if digital point's tool (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/) may be a good, free service.
To have it work you need a Google API key. I have found some conflicting info when I try to get a key and need some help.
1) It appears as if the SOAP key is no longer being offered by google. Can this tool still be used by getting a key from a differnt API (i.e AJAX search API)? 2) I have a google analytics account but I have not submitted/ validated my site to google yet (with meta tag or special page). Is this necesary prior to using the tool?
Any help? Other suggestions for keyword montioring?

Answer : Keyword ranking, digital point and google API key

Hello, 1) From what I've seen in their forums, the AJAX key isn't working, so you're stuck with using the old SOAP key one I think. Quoting from their support forums: "Google nolonger allows new Soap API key signups and the Keyword Tracker needs a Soap API and NOT the Ajax API key. Shawn will need to change how the keyword tracker works."
2) It isn't necessary. Just add the code from your analytics account to your websites following their instructions and wait 24h for the data to start arriving and being processed. I have used it with sites that weren't in google in any form and worked fine.
Hope this helps you :)
