Question : Win 98 General Problems.

Hey there. Some of you will recognize me...and, sad to say...I'm back :)

Ok, here's the deal. I formatted my HD, and installed Win98 SE fresh. I re-installed all the software I had been using...well, most of it...and everything worked fine.

Then, about 2 weeks ago...I started encountering problems again. Now, I get MANY BSOD's...some occuring while running programs, and some with the computer just sitting on at the desktop.

Here's a sampling of the errors I've gotten. Hopefully there's an easy solution that doesn't involve replacing parts, since I'm living la vida broka at the moment ;)

Now, I had a feeling that it was a video card problem, as it seemed to be the only common factor, since it's pretty much always working. However, the card is fairly new, and has never had a problem before (I know this means little hehehe). Also, it's nothing specific...it's random crashes.

Now, as for programs...I've had ALOT of problems getting DOS programs to run, but...even Win95/98 programs are mysteriously problematic. NHL 98, which NEVER crashed before, sometimes just quits out to Windows while playing, or I get a BSOD. Fallout 2 also freezes when I get to a specific part...which may be video card related.

I've re-installed windows, I've moved Vid card slots...etc.

Someone...help! :)

I can provide any additional info...just ask :)

Answer : Win 98 General Problems.

The Taker,
It is possible it is the power supply.  The only thing you can do is replace it.  If it is that old, it may be.  When you opened the case, was it hot?  Try opening the case, placing a fan near the pc to keep it cool and see if this helps.  Heat is a fun one as well as power supply to track down.
