Question : Using Hibernate for faster laptop start-up
|
|
I would like to reduce start-up time for my students, who share laptops from a mobile lab. One option I thought of was having the machines hibernate rather than shut down when the users session is finished. However because we are a K-8 school, and not all teachers or students are that tech savvy, I think it may be too complex for them to log out, press ctrl+alt+del and then choose hibernate. Would there be a way to have the shut down button trigger a log -out and then hibernation? I have thought about teaching the students to always log -out not shut down at the end of their session, and have closing the lid put the machine into hibernation, but my fear is that they will close the lid before the log-out is completed, resulting in a locked machine for the next user.
Any ideas would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks
John

Display Properties, Screen Saver Tab, Power button, Advanced Tab. You can set the desired action to hibernate there.
