Question : Profile Failed as Backup Windows XP Pro
In my SBS 2003 domain I use a roaming profile for a few XP Pro SP2 computers. Recently a profile on one of the laptops failed and the user now has a temporary profile assigned to them. The folders for the original roaming profile are still there but they aren't being used by the system. When I right click on MyComputer, go to properties, go to the Advanced tab, and look at the profiles sub tab I find the user's profile listed as roaming but the status is now backup. I've tried switching it to a local profile but that doesn't help. Any suggestions on how to get this profile back to normal status without recreating it? By the way I did check the disk through XP, no errors were reported. Also, are there any ideas as to why this may have happened?

Try just renaming it in Docs and Settings, and have th user log back in. If it registers the profile properly, simply migrate the data over to the new profile and go from there....
