Question : Unable to access user profiles
|
|
Quite a mess I've gotten myself into...
I had some persistent spyware on a system and installed the drive in another system to run BitDefender on it. It found tons of stuff and cleaned it up... but when I re-installed the drive into its original system, it could not load the users profile and creates a new default one. I cannot do anything on the system. I cannot open the System Policies. The system now thinks that "This copy of Windows is not activated" and there is no way for me to activate.
In the Documents and settings, it creates a new profile every time I log on. Something is horribly wrong.
Any suggestions or solutions?
Thank you.

How to reset security settings back to the defaults http://support.microsoft.com/kb/313222
Also, this might be a last resort....
As for the user profile, make sure that the user has full access under the profile folder in docs and settings, and make sure it is propagating to all child objects (advanced tab in the security tab)
