Question : Set up Printers on Peer to Peer

I have 3 printers in the office, an HP Laserjet 4000, a HP Business Inkjet 3000 and a Brother mfc-8420 multifunction laser scanner/printer/fax.  I have 5 computers that need to share these printers and three wired locations to which visitors can connect.

Internet comes in via Verizon DSL router.  Adjacent to this router is a Dlink D604 which serves 4 wired remote locations.  My computer, the peer to peer server, is one of the 4.  At each of the other 3 locations there is a switch or router funcitoning as a switch.  One router/switch is connected to the HP4000 and the Brother 8420.  Another switch connects the HP 3000.

I'm trying to set up each of these printer so they can be accessed by the 5 fixed computers and any guest who connects to one of the unsued wired locations.

Please give me the best way to accomplish this.

THanks

Answer : Set up Printers on Peer to Peer

what this is all going to do is make sure when you turn the printers on and off they don't lose the IP address assigned to them i.e Static IP. so you know that for instance the hp laserjet is 192.168.0.200 and can go to any pc and connect to that ip.

when you set the computers to use a local ip port it just basically means setting the port to the printers specific IP address. look her on how to configure the pcs:

http://www.anzio.com/support/documentation/printwiz/Setting%20up%20a%20localhost%20printer%20with%20Print%20Wizard.htm

this site has nice pics of the wizard. some minor differences, instead of using localhost like in the link use the printers ip address you set. also the driver you select is the one for the printer at that ip address. once this is all setup you should be able to try a test page  from each workstation to see if they can print. let me know how you make out.
