Question : Flash Player Acting Strangely - Settings won't stick
Man, I've got some weird things going on. To start off, I had flash 9 installed via GPO on Windows XP machines on a Windows 2003 SBS network. I upgraded to flash 10, which promptly broke an online app we use. So I removed 10, and put 9 back in. All via GPO. So now that app has flash 10 support. So, I upgrade to flash 10. Something isn't working right.. so I go here:
http://www.macromedia.com/
support/do
cumentatio
n/en/
flash
player/hel
p/settings
_manager02
.html
turns out, on the PC's which the app isn't working right, none of the settings or changes I make there stick. It's like I don't have permissions to change the settings. The users are local admins. If I log in as a domain admin I can change the settings. I tried to reset flash using this:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfse
rvice/view
Content.do

I figured maybe the installs got messed up, so I uninstalled with the removal tool. I then re-installed via an .exe instead of group policy. No luck. Any ideas? Also, these PCs are not letting me reinstall flash 9. It will get to the end and "Fail to register xxxx.ocx". Can't remember the name exactly. What do I need to do to clear this mess up?
Also, it doesn't matter which browser I'm in. Firefox, IE7, Chrome. They all break and won't let me change the settings.
Thanks so much!
Answer : Flash Player Acting Strangely - Settings won't stick
Ok this is a known flash bug that happens when the desktop is re-directed to the network. I switched the users who needed it to roaming profiles for desktop backup purposes and it fixes the issue.
