Question : How do I change the default website in IIS to point to a Sharepoint subsite?

I have sharepoint and Project Server installed on a server. I want to create a really simple URL for use on my Intranet to enable users to quickly connect to a an inital intranet home page.

ie: http://compnet

compnet will equal the IP address of the hosting server in DNS.

The path of the homepage on the server is http://server/sites/enterprise
(All other sites link from this initial homepage)
Currently a 404 error is reported if an attempt is made to connect to the server without specifiying a full sharepoint path as above. ie http://server (error 404)

As part of the Sharepoint installation the default website is stopped.

Can anyone suggest the best was of creating this shortcut, or how to make the http://server/sites/enterprise the default website? ie when typing http://server it links to /sites/enterprise

Answer : How do I change the default website in IIS to point to a Sharepoint subsite?

I have come to the conclusion that I can't do what I want without deleting the sites, rebuilding and specifying a different path. Looks like I'm stuck with having to type the full path to the initial sharepoint site. ie - http://server/sites/blahblah
Host headers and Alternate Access Mappings will only work for the http://server part.
The only way I can find of acheiving what I want is to use another server on the network with IIS as a redirect to the full URL of the Sharepoint site.
If there are no further comments I'm going to delete this question from the system in a couple of days.
Thanks for all your suggestions.
