Question : No NDR
|
|
I have disabled users and would like anyone sending mail to them to receive and NDR notice, but when I test that, no NDR is being sent?
Is there something else I need to do?
Thank you!

Yeah, disabling just locks the user account down from being used...but mail will still flow.
I don't know of any way - if Active Directory/Exchange sees that email address (anywhere, on any account) it will deliver the message to the appropriate mailbox. You could just modify the SMTP address slightly (like adding a 1 to the front...or something like that) which would generate NDR's for the old/valid address.
Or you could log into that user's mail profile and setup an out-of-office response stating that they're no longer employed there. Not really an NDR, but it'd get the same point across?
