Question : problems replicating public folders from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007
|
|
we purchased a brand new MS Windows 2003 64bit server and installed Exchange 2007. before this, we had Exchange 2003 on another server and we have moved mailboxes, etc to the new 2007 server. we eventually want to get rid of the old exch 2003 server.
almost everything is working except for public folders. their database is about 11GB w/ a lot of folders.
here are the steps i've taken:
on exch2003 ESM, went to manage settings > added a replica server (new2007) to each PF folder. once both 2003 and 2007 servers were in the replication tab, i performed Move All Replicas in exch2003 ESM (also did it in the EMshell prompt in exch2007, although the 2003 method worked best.)
good news is, about 80% of everything moved over successfully. in the PF instances, i can see that some folders are missing (which is good, right?) but are still not seen on 2007. i just can't seem to get the other folders to move over.
any suggestions here?
another thing i did to actually make the PF replication happen in the 1st place, was i read that some of the replication msgs (?) were getting caught in the 2007 ECM queue. i took out the smarthost we had, and then it worked. we no longer need the old smarthost, but now, we are using another smarthost. this time, however, i'm not seeing any messages get stuck in the queue. so i haven't tried removing the new smarthost as of yet.
thanks for your help in advance!

That would tend to point at something wrong with those folders - permissions for example. If the permissions are incorrect then that would explain why they haven't replicated AND why you cannot see them through Outlook. Check the client permissions first through ESM and ensure that there is at least one owner - not default as owner. If there are other permissions verify that they are correct and would allow the test account to view the content. Remember that PF permissions can allow a folder to be hidden totally.
