Question : Using Exmerge

With reference to my Backup Question (backup failing for no obvious reason) on Exchange 2000 I am thinking of using Exmerge, All the docs I see are pretty confusing.

Can anyone please give me simple replies to the following

1) Can I run Exmerge on Exchange 2000 while it is online and without dismounting the store?

2) Can I extract .PST files for all the users and still have it in the store, so I amy keep actual pst backups without users gettng to know that something has been done on the email server?

And if possible a link to a simple howto on the above.

Answer : Using Exmerge

Yes, in fact is has to be online.

2) Can I extract .PST files for all the users and still have it in the store, so I amy keep actual pst backups without users gettng to know that something has been done on the email server?

The default in exmerge is to copy data out, not to move it out.  Users will be oblivious to whats going on.  Oh, and if you want more information I would read the exmerge help doc that comes with the utility.
