Question : Move mailboxes from one Exch 07 server to another after one has crashed
|
|
I had a test Exch 2007 server and a production 2003 Exchange server running with around ten (10)mailboxes on each server. The test 2007 server crashed and I have stood up a new production 2007 server. The problem is that the users who had mailboxes on the old server seem to be stuck there. It won't let me move them to the new server because the old server cannot be contacted. What can I do short of deleting users in Active directory and re-creating them again?
Thanks in advance.

what outlook client do you have..... the client is configured to point to the old server and will not be redirected automatically unless you are running Outlook 2007 and have autodiscovered configured. Since the clien will attempt to connect to the old server which is up would do the redirect....
You could have installed the new server with the /recoverserver switch so you could have used the same name which would have solved that problem.......
Here is an article I wrote, it SCR however it uses database portablity, just skip the steps about scr and it should walk you through everything http://exchange-genie.blogspot.com/2007/08/scr-standby-continuous-replication.html
