Question : Wake computer to run Ghost backups

Running XP/SP3, just purchased Norton Ghost 14. My computer goes into standby mode overnight - but I would also like to auto-run Ghost on some nights. Windows scheduled tasks allows you to wake the computer to run a task, but that option seems to be missing from Ghost. What's the BEST way to wake up my system on nights that backups are to run?

Answer : Wake computer to run Ghost backups

Hello slovisa

If you have tried my earlier solution here  from the earlier post & it suits your needs by scheduling a task to scan for any Plug & play devices . this should be your solution, an added benefit is that  Ghost will have access to the backup devices if & when needed

however kindly ensure the point advised by dstewartjr is covered

in the scheduled task advanced options

Settings>Power Management>Wake the computer to run this task

also in case you leave your computer for long periods of time, you may be logged off it reboots or anything , check the below setting as well

Scheduled Task properties>Task> uncheck the box "run only if logged on" this will make the task run as if it is a windows service, that does not require users logged in to run.

hope this helps
