Question : Outlook Express: Error message after I change Message Store location
|
|
In Outlook Express, on my Toshiba laptop running W2K, I wanted to change where it stored the mail messages, so I went into Tools\Options\Maintenance\Store Folder and pointed it to another set of DBX file (My Documents\MyMail, for the record). But when I exited Outlook Express and came back in, I now get "Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft support for further assistance..." So now I can't even change the message store back to its original location.
Do I have to change some Registry entry to get back to square one? Or must I re-install Outlook Express? Or what?
Thanks for any help Lee

Greetings, lgil9!
1. You can try a repair of Internet Explorer first, which share many files with Outlook Express.
Perform a repair of Internet Explorer. From Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer and highlight it. Click on the Add/Remove button. When the IE Tools menu comes up, select Repair. Click OK.
You can also access the IE Toolbar by clicking Start > Run and type
rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance
2. If this does not work, then uninstall Outlook Express and reinstall Outlook Express. You may have to download the IE setup files again.
