Question : Client Hanging - Error: Not found [8F07]

Hi, I'm a new Groupwise admin installing GW8 for my first GW experience.

I've got a problem with the client hanging for about .5 to 2 minutes between every action.  I'm hoping y'all can give me some things to look for.

No suggestion is too obvious for me.  I know next to nothing about GW, but learning more every day.  I got it installed this week, and have the MTA, POA, and GWIA talking via their web agents and just today got the links between them up.

What could be causing this hang?  Where should I look?

I'm using the Linux Client on the same machine as the GW8 system.  A windows client seems to experience the same hang however.  I'm sure that I've mis-configured something.

Everything else seems responsive enough.  The webagents work great and responsively.  Just the client is dirt slow.

OK, when I sign in I get these log messages:

00:25:34 624 *** NEW APP CONNECTION, Tbl Entry=0, Check ID=1242260241
00:26:37 624 C/S Login Linux  Net Id=xx ::GW Id=testuser :: 127.0.0.2 [::ffff:10.255.20.200]
00:26:40 008 C/S Login Linux  Net Id=xx ::GW Id=testuser :: 127.0.0.2 [::ffff:10.255.20.200]
00:27:47 008 Client Slap session [25361] from IP address ::ffff:10.255.20.200 Bag ID= 25361

You can see from the timestamps that it's taking a long time for anything to happen.  Also, I don't even get the frame of the client's window to pop up until after the "Client Slap" message (What the hey is a Client Slap anyway?  Sounds abusive...  ).  And then it still takes between 30 and 60 seconds for the interior to fill in.

Then when I try and create a new message I get these:

00:29:55 624 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)
00:30:26 008 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)
00:30:50 008 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)
00:31:30 624 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)
00:33:14 160 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)
00:33:26 624 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)
00:34:51 160 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)
00:35:18 160 Error: Not found [8F07] User:testuser  (testuser)

So, something isn't pointing someplace that it needs to and it's hanging until a timeout.  Then it let's me type one more letter.....then hang.... then another.  etc.

So, where should I look first?

Answer : Client Hanging - Error: Not found [8F07]

Well, I finally broke down and paid for some consulting time.  Come to find out that I have access to a copy of the Novell distro for enterprise because I'm implementing GW.  I installed it and installed the other stuff and the response time problem was no longer there.  I then worked with the consultant to review several other settings and work a variety of newbie questions.  Still have some more to go, but progress is being made.  I'm going to close this question.
