Question : How to define a bookmark in the Footer Section of Word Document.
|
|
I wrote a word macro and in the macro code I'm filling the data in the footer section of word document by defining the bookmark. I'm able to insert the bookmark in the word document but when i come out of it i'm not able to go to that specific bookmark. What is the problem. When I run the macro code I get error that the bookmark does not exist. I'm able to define bookmarks anywhere in the word document template except in the footer section . I appreciate your response. Thanks vm

Sure, vm.
You just need to put the bookmark in the doc area, instead of the header/footer.
I hate to say, but if you cannot have it in the doc area, then I can only suggest you *hide* the text that is bookmarked.
Then, in the footer, hit Insert-Cross reference. Choose "to a bookmark" and hit the dropdown to choose your bookmark name.
The cross-reference will require updating by Ctrl+A then F9 before it will become populated with text from the bookmark.
It also assumes that you're not REPLACING your bookmark with text...
