Question : Exchange 2007 Migration and OAB sync with OL 2K3
|
|
I could REALLY use some help here.... I did a migration fro mExchange 2000 to 2007 for a client. We had our ups and downs, but for the most part it worked. (Just a tip... migrating from E2K on a w2k DC before e2k7 SP1 is a trial and had to be done on CLI)...
Anyway, I have deommissioned the old Exchange 2000 server using this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905.aspx
However, the users with OL2K3 get an error several times/day that says: Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server' reported error (0x8004010F) : 'The operation failed. An object could not be found.'
I have troubleshot, researched, done just about everything that can be done including putting in a 3rd party UCC/SAN certifcate from GoDaddy... but the error still persists. The best I can come up with is that removing a legacy exchange server can cause problems. I've pulled up the public folders on e2k7 w/ the public folder mmc, but don't see anything there. The default OAB is there...
Any ideas? I'm almost willing to give up my first born to solve this.
Many thanks for any insight/suggestions etc. Lee

Answer : Exchange 2007 Migration and OAB sync with OL 2K3

On the Exchange 2007 server, 1). Start the Exchange Management Console. 2). Expand Server Configuration, highlight Mailbox 3). Open properties of the Mailbox database and switch to the "Client Settings" tab 4). Make sure the "Default Offline Address List" is selected under "Offline Address Book" 5). Navigate to the Default OAL, right click it and choose properties
Please check the Generation Server under the General tab. If its generation server is not the Exchange 2007 Mailbox Role, let's try the following steps to change the generation Server.
a. Highlight the Default OAL, in the action pane, click Move. The Move Offline Address Book wizard appears. b. On the Move Offline Address Book page, click Browse to open the Select Mailbox Server dialog box. c. Select the Exchange 2007 Mailbox server to which we will move the OAB generation, and then click OK. d. Click Move to move the OAB generation process to the proper server. e. View the status of the move operation. The wizard will move the generation of your OAB to the new server and copy the existing files for the OAB to the new server. f. On the Completion page, confirm whether the OAB generation process was moved successfully. A status of Completed indicates that the wizard completed the task successfully. A status of Failed indicates that the task was not completed. If the task fails, review the summary for an explanation, and then click Back to make any configuration changes. f. Click Finish to complete the Move Offline Address Book wizard.
Please continue with step 2 Step 2: Check distribution method =============
On the Exchange 2007 CAS server, a. Open Exchange Management Console b. Expand Organization Configuration, highlight Mailbox c. Switch to Offline Address Book, right click the Default OAL and choose Properties d. Under Distribution tab, make sure the following options are selected:
Outlook 98 SP1 or earlier (Version 2) Outlook 98 SP2 or later (Version 3) Outlook 2003 SP2 or later (Version 4) Enable public folder distribution e. Then right the Default OAL and choose Update Wait for some time until changes take effect. Test if Outlook 2003 can download OAB properly now.
