Question : w32 self extractor

I am getting error message while executing self executing files " winzip self extractor header corrupt. possible cause bad disk or file transfer error."
Can you please explain me what is this error and how to work my system properly.

I looked at mcknifes suggestion and I would go with that one first just to try and get rid of it, other then that I would also suggest you run trend micros online anti virus scan, it is recomend you run this in safe mode with networking :
