Question : Force Cached mode in Exchange 2003

How can I force when a user logs in the use cached mode in Exchange 2003? I currently have any new user that logs on to a workstation click a shortcut to Outlook.exe with the /importprf switch to import the %username% and server name for the profile. This works great but it does not turn on cached mode. Can I either manually edit the PRF file to use cacehd mode or can I set a registry setting somewhere. I tried to look at setting a GPO but could not find it ini the Office 2003 Resource kit ADM template.

The main problem that I can see with this is that you have commented out the section relating to the Outlook client. The cached mode is actually driven by the client (Outlook) as opposed to the server (Exchange) and so the client needs to be told to use Cached mode too. I would uncomment your Outlook section (section 2), by removing the semicolon at the beginning of the line:-

You then need to add a section (within section 4) which tells the client to use cached mode. For instance, to tell it to download full mail items (the best setting unless the connection is mega slow), this should read:-
