Question : Restoring System State for a Domain Controller for Disaster recovery to 2003 Server with SP1
MS Windows 2003 server with SP1 applied server role is DC. Performing a system state restore to different hardware. HAve tested and performed this migration without SP1 to completion. Now SP1 has been applied to the server, I am unable to restore and complete a rebuild of the Domain Controller. If I try to open the MMC to edit the Default Domain Policy I get returned the error "Failed to Open the Group Policy Object. You may not have appropriate rights. Details: The system cannot find the path specified
I have perfored the saem restore previous to new hardware the only difference being that now SP1 is installed.
In the evemt log (application) Event ID 1030 Source : Userenv Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects.
I have looked in the SYSVOL folder and the policy exists under the correct folder i.e. SYSVOL\
\Ntfts_Pre_Existing\p
olicies\
so looks fine.
I have stopped NTFRS and modified the "BURFLAGS" to a vlaue of D4 under HKLM\system\curreentcontro
lser\servi
ces\ntfrs\
parameters
\backup/re
store\proc
ess at Startup
Appreciate as o why i cant open the policy.
