Question : Terminal Services License how to remove

Hi,

I am trying to build a test Win 2003 Server to eventually replace our Citrix server. When I opened the "Termianl Services Licensing" app the first time II pointed to our current Citrix server for licenses.

Then I remembered that our current Citrix server is running Windows 2000 Server.

So of course my Win 2003 server Terminal Server complains about the fact that it does not have 2003 licenses.

All well and good, but now when I go into the "Terminal Services Licensing" to try and remove the pointer to the Citrix server, my only choice is to "deactivate".

This scares me...I do not want to mess up our current License's. How do I tell the " "Terminal Services Licensing" not to look for the Citrix server period. There is no remove option or something like it.

Be kind please, this if my first time working with Terminal Server. Thanks for any help

Answer : Terminal Services License how to remove

Try this:

1.  Open Group Policy on Server (Start --> Run --> Type:  gpedit.msc)

2.  In Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Terminal Services, double-click Use the specified Terminal Server license servers

3.  Click Enabled

4.  Enter the names of the Terminal Server license servers you want this Terminal Server to contact first when attempting to obtain client access licenses (CALs), and then click OK

You may have to restart the server and see if the changes have taken effect.
