Question : "OPen With" Problem

In Win XP when I have a new file extention that is not defined to any other program (ie. jjj.ace) where the ".ace" file will invoke a special editor, and I want to assign a program to use this file then I use OPEN WITH. This opens a medium sized window with a choice of programs or I can browse to find the program I want to associate with. For some reason I don't get the message "Type a description that you want to use for this kind of file". How do I get this message to appear in the window so I can type in a description???????

Answer : "OPen With" Problem

To get the description dialog back , First nav to -  My comp> Tools > Folder options > file types
find the extension eg: "ACE"  and delete it.  and close the file options window.
Now locate a file with the "ACE" extension and dbl click to open it, choose "select program from a list" and now your Description field will appear, fill it in and browse for the app you wish to open that file.

Note: some applications will replace your custom description with their own default file description for their known extension types.
