Question : Can or should you install Terminal Server License Manager on a DC?
|
|
I have Terminal Server License Manager installed on a Windows 2000 server currently and I need to retire that server. I have a new Windows 2003 Server which is the second DC in the domain and I want to install Terminal Server License Manager on that DC, will that be OK to install on a DC? Can the two Terminal Server License Manager's co-exist in the same domain? Next, when I am ready to move the old licenses over to the new server, can that be done and how?
Thanks, Jo Ann

Hi Jo Ann,
You can install the license server on any machine, it only needs to be on a domain controller if you want it to be auto discovered. Basically if you install it on a member server you will need to tell the member server where it is.
I think you already know how to do this but if not its explained here :

The auto discovery process is explained here:
