Question : e-mail attachments / images - embed

I have noticed that when I get e-mails with images attached from a mac, that the images are embedded in the body of the e-mail if received in a mac e-mail program. If I receive the same e-mail on a PC - using any Windows-based software, like Outlook - the image is attached.....

Why is this - and can I change it? I would like to send mailings to Mac and PC users where the image is always embedded and sized to some standard.

Thanks!

Answer : e-mail attachments / images - embed

Embedded images are specialized attachments.  The difference in displaying them is likely due to the way each recipient email client deals with the images that come in.  If you are sending emails to a number of different types of clients, there is no way to account for them all if the mail clients behave differently.  One person's Outlook may be set up to allow images, but the next would not.

I highly recommend using web based images links instead.  Not only does this eliminate the attachment behavior of the image, it helps the message load much faster (if they have an Internet connection.)

Remember, when you use an image tag in email, you need the full URL for the image path:
<img src="http://www.domain.com/imagefolder/imagename.jpg">
