Question : Microsoft Proxy Client for Linux

I am currently running windows XP and i have a program installed called "Microsoft Proxy Client" This enables me to access the internet from any program on my machine through the proxy server but not through the proxy server. (basically it is unrestricted access to the internet, with exceptions to a few ports). I am looking at putting my machine over to RedHat but i have to be able to get onto the internet in the same fashion because i am a web designer.

Does anybody know of any software or methods that I could go about this?

It's another shrewd marketing move from MS, keeps that pesky Linux away...
